Energy Tax Credit
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (part of the Economic Stimulus Plan) modifies and extends federal tax credits for 'qualified energy improvements,' which includes replacement windows and doors. The new credits are for 30% of the cost of the eligible product up to an aggregate limit for $1,500 for tax years 2009 and 2010.

- Up to $1,500 maximum credit for windows for all taxable years.
- Allowed only for amounts paid or incurred to purchase the window or door.
- Not allowed for amounts paid for onsite preparation, assembly, original installation labor, other components or sales tax.
- The purchase must be made during the taxable year for which the credit is claimed.
